Cheek Augmentation Surgery

Cheeks are considered to be among the most important aspects of facial beauty. There are many reasons causing saggy or empty cheeks like becoming old or being excessively thin and fortunately, there are many ways to get rid of these problems. Cheek augmentation is one of the most common methods used for increasing the volume of cheeks. It is done with a few options depending on the patient.

There are three methods to increase the volume of cheeks
• An injection with the patient’s own body fat,
• Insertion of solid implants above the cheekbone,
• Soft tissue filling.

How is cheek augmentation surgery done?
Cheek augmentation surgery can be done in hospitals or special clinics and under local or general anesthesia depending on the doctor’s priorities. In the case of local anesthesia, some medications can be prescribed beforehand. In this way, the patient can feel comfortable.
One of the methods used in this surgery is taking some fat from the patient’s own body and injecting it into the cheeks. This method is ideal since it will not cause immune system problems. Also, it reduces acne scars. It should be noted that since the body can absorb the fat in time, the results of this procedure last for approximately six months.
Another method for this procedure is to insert solid cheek implants above the cheekbone. This method is permanent and generally done from inside the mouth, therefore no scarring is made on the patient’s face.
Soft tissue filling is injected with a really small needle. This method is also permanent. For the comfort of the patient, local anesthesia is administered.
